Voiceover by Eleanor Goldfield. Absolutely none of this is done using AI. Because fuck that.
Stay with me y’all, there’s good news at the bottom…
In this week’s episode of Wait, Are We the Baddies? the pro-Israel advocacy group UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI) has urged the British government to ban the charity Doctors Without Borders (MSF), which operates in Gaza, as a terrorist organization.
As Middle East Eye reports, this is a tactic that Israel has used many times in the past, most recently in January of this year when it banned 37 international NGOs from operating in Gaza and the West Bank. The January ruling grants Israeli authorities broad discretionary power to deny status to INGOs based on an organisation’s previous support for international legal proceedings against Israeli citizens, engagement with boycotts, or failure to characterise Israel as a Jewish and democratic state.
Say we’re the good guys or we’ll fucking annihilate you! Classic good guy.
New York City Mayor Mamdani is being sued…by the National Supermarket Association…for wanting New Yorkers to have cheaper groceries.
Mamdani’s plan is to create five municipally owned stores on city-owned property by 2029 that will offer a 30% discount on goods like meat, dairy, and fruit and vegetables. The National Supermarket Association says that would create “an unfair business environment,” which is really just code for how the fuck are we gonna price gouge people at will if they can just go to a socially subsidized store where prices are fair??
Now that 7 in 10 Americans oppose data centers in or around their communities, the EPA is responding by planning to scrap a federal requirement that states tell the public — and allow public comment — before approving air-pollution permits for industrial facilities. As Capital B News reports, that includes the data centers rising across the country, as well as the power plants built to feed their enormous appetite for electricity.
The EPA said the proposed changes would “responsibly speed up permitting, supporting American economic development and energy dominance.”
In case you’re new here, what that statement means is hey folks, America isn’t about or for you. It’s about the bottom lines and the top 1%. You can take your public comment and shove it.
Just when you think you’re at the bottom, they find a trap door. According to new data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), workers in the United States are earning a historically low share of the value they produce.
The BLS estimates that the labor share of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) “was 52.8 percent in the second quarter of 2026.” This is the lowest level that the BLS has seen since it first began recording labor share in 1947.
And as Popular Information reports, while labor’s share of GDP is collapsing, U.S. corporate profits are surging, increasing by $400.9 billion in the second quarter of 2026, compared with an increase of $74.4 billion in the first quarter.
A Brookings Institution report found that schools nationwide are adopting AI surveillance tools, from weapon-detection cameras to bathroom listening devices, often without evidence the technology is reliable.
And of course, research shows that this tech is concentrated in large, urban schools with more Black & Latinx students. Keep in mind too that facial recognition technology struggles in particular with Black “subjects.” Add to that the fact that AI is pulling from a remarkably racist system and perhaps it’s not surprising that last year (in just one example) cops drew their guns and then handcuffed a 16-year old Baltimore student before realizing that the supposed gun AI software had flagged was in fact a bag of chips that the student was carrying. But at least those cops drew their guns just in case!
As reported by the Equinox Initiative for Racial Justice based in the EU, this past week “President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, delivered her “State of the Union” speech, laying out the yearly priorities of the EU. This year, von der Leyen’s speech framed a dangerous world requiring a “strong” and “independent” Europe.
But if you read between the lines, “strong” and “independent” is a smokescreen for a more militarised and imperialist Europe; shifting our economies toward war, privatisation and tech-dominance and harming migrants, racialised people, and people of the global South.”
What this entails is 80% increased defense spending and “record levels” of military spending across the bloc, necessitating deregulation of the economy to shuffle more spending towards death, and less to social services which have been a cornerstone of most European nations for decades. Of course this also means spending less on mitigating climate chaos.
As the US empire continues to flail and fail, the EU seems dead set on going down with that ship as opposed to investing in people, planet and justice. The only thing dumber than being the evil empire is wanting to be. Congrats EU.
In Dr. Austin Kocher’s “This Week by Immigration Numbers” post, he shares an ACLU finding that the federal government spends $91 on immigration enforcement to every $1 it spends enforcing wage, hour and safety law. A ratio of 91:1.
And yet corporate media will tell you that your oppression is the fault of immigrants being black-bagged and disappeared rather than psychopathic billionaires overseeing the largest wealth transfer from the 99% in the history of the US.
According to common sense and two US officials familiar with military operations in the Middle East, the US military is under increasing stress due to the war on Iran, stress that could lead to a “breakdown” in the military’s ability to effectively continue the war.
As the Intercept reports, these stresses include: Iranian attacks on U.S. bases and warships in the Middle East, depleted stockpiles of defensive munitions, increasing casualties, maintenance issues on ships, lengthy troop deployments, complicated logistics, flagging morale and a host of other issues that have taken a heavy toll on troops, damaged military readiness, and a strained Pentagon budget — contradicting months of rosy pronouncements by the Trump administration.
In reporting by Mother Jones, the EPA would rather monitor water for abortion pills than pollution.
As the EPA eliminates climate pollution standards for fossil fuel-fired power plants, that same agency supposedly tasked with protecting the environment announced a new study that would test the country’s water supply for abortion medication, contraception, and hormones used in gender-affirming care, along with over 1,000 other medications and chemicals.
And considering the EPA decided to rollback protections from PFAS aka forever chemicals in drinking water, we can be pretty damn sure this isn’t about ensuring your drinking water is clean. It’s an excuse to go after those who dare take control of their bodies. Remember, as I reported last week, clean drinking water is not a Constitutional right. Creating AI child porn is. America.
Hey hold on y’all, there IS some good news!!!
A new Gallup poll shows that 7 in 10 Americans (71%) approve of labor unions, and a record-high 47% now say they want unions to have more influence.
In reporting by Earth Justice the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against the Trump administration’s abuse of emergency powers to force coal plants across the country to continue operating long-past their planned retirement.
As reported by Breakthrough News, the UK’s Trades Union Congress (TUC) – an umbrella organization which represents over 5 million British workers, successfully voted to back the Palestinian-led Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement.
As reported by 404 Media, hackers have stolen Flock’s camera software, revealing how the company tracks cars and people.

“While labor’s share of GDP is collapsing, U.S. corporate profits are surging…”
See? That means the economy is looking up! (At least according to the dimwits in Washington DC.) Time for the laborers to stand up against the corporate profiteers!
Sorry Eleanor, I disagree with the Mayor of NYC. Vouchers of some sort should be given directly to people who purchase from locally produced sources. Farmers would make a point to bring items to sell closer to for-sure markets and bypass the Presidents actions to bring cheap beef in from China. It’s an idea without stifling grocery stories who are hard hit by inflation. I’d rather create incentives than to cut people out of their market share unnaturally. Cooperative farmers can create avenues of delivery.
